1. VPN traffic & logging

Rimzo does not require you to create an account or provide your name, email, or phone number to use the VPN. When you connect, Rimzo creates an encrypted tunnel (using the sing-box engine) and routes your device's internet traffic through a VPN/proxy server so your real IP address is masked and your connection on untrusted networks is encrypted. The VPN starts only after you tap Connect and approve Android's system VPN dialog, and a persistent notification is shown for as long as the tunnel is active.

Our strict no-logs policy

Rimzo operates a strict no-logs policy. We do not sell your data, and we do not collect, monitor, record, or store:

We also never redirect or manipulate your traffic for monetization: Rimzo does not inject ads into the websites or apps you use, does not alter the content of your traffic, and does not sell, rent, or share your bandwidth with anyone. Ads in the free version appear only inside the Rimzo app itself and are unrelated to your tunnel traffic.

To establish and maintain the tunnel, our infrastructure transiently processes your device's source IP address and the server you choose; this is used only to route your connection and is not recorded as an activity log or used to build a profile of you. Because we keep no activity logs, we have nothing about your online activity to sell, share, or disclose.

Lawful use

You are responsible for using Rimzo in accordance with the laws that apply to you. Some countries regulate or restrict VPN use. See our Terms of Service.

2. Information we collect

Rimzo works without a sign-in. We and our service providers collect the following categories of data automatically to operate, secure, and improve the app and to show ads in the free version:

CategoryExamplesWhy
IP addressYour device's source IP; the region/country derived from itEstablish the VPN tunnel; suggest nearby servers; show the correct flag/region; fraud/abuse prevention
Device & connection infoDevice model, manufacturer, OS version, language, screen, network type (Wi-Fi/mobile), app versionCompatibility, analytics, crash diagnostics, ad delivery
Advertising IDGoogle Advertising ID (GAID)Advertising and install attribution in the free version (see §5)
App activity & diagnosticsIn-app events (e.g. connect/disconnect, screen views, purchases), crash logs, performance dataUnderstand usage, fix crashes, improve reliability
Approximate locationCoarse location derived from IP (not GPS)Server selection and region features
Purchase statusSubscription/premium status and purchase tokens from Google Play BillingUnlock premium; manage subscriptions
Launchable apps (on-device only)The apps on your device that have a home-screen launcher iconSplit tunneling only. This list is read on your device so you can choose which apps bypass the VPN. Rimzo uses Android's package-visibility filter, so it can only see apps you can launch — not your full installed-app inventory — and the list is never transmitted to us or any third party.

Rimzo does not intentionally collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, precise GPS location, microphone, or camera data.

3. How we use information

4. Third-party services & SDKs

Rimzo includes the following third-party software. Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy; we encourage you to review them:

Provider / SDKPurposePrivacy policy
Google Play ServicesCore services, security, advertising IDpolicies.google.com/privacy
Google Firebase — Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote ConfigUsage analytics, crash reporting, feature configurationfirebase.google.com/support/privacy
Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads)Advertising in the free versionpolicies.google.com/technologies/ads
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)Consent management for ads (GDPR/CCPA)policies.google.com/privacy
Google Play BillingSubscription purchasespolicies.google.com/privacy

TikTok Business SDKInstall attribution & campaign measurementtiktok.com/legal/privacy-policy
IP geolocation (ip-api.com, ipapi.co, freegeoip.app)Resolve approximate region from IPProvider policies apply

The Meta and TikTok attribution SDKs remain disabled until you grant consent. In the free version, advertising and analytics identifiers are collected in line with your consent choices (§5).

5. Advertising & consent

The free version of Rimzo is supported by ads. Depending on your region and consent, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Where required (e.g. the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), we present a consent request through Google's User Messaging Platform before personalized ads or attribution SDKs are enabled. Ads are shown only inside the app's own screens — never inside your VPN traffic (§1).

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:

7. Android permissions we request

PermissionWhy Rimzo uses it
VpnService (system consent)Create the encrypted VPN tunnel. Android shows a system dialog you must approve before the first connection.
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_NETWORK_STATEConnect to servers, detect network changes, and manage network routes while the VPN reconnects.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USEKeep the VPN running reliably while active, with a persistent notification.
POST_NOTIFICATIONSShow VPN status and occasional service notifications (Android 13+). You can disable these.
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONSLets Rimzo ask you (via a system dialog) to exempt it from battery optimization so the system does not stop the VPN in the background. Granting this is optional and entirely your choice.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETEDRe-schedule reminders after a device restart.
VIBRATESubtle vibration for notifications and in-app feedback.
Package visibility (launcher apps only)Show the apps you can launch so you can choose which ones bypass the VPN (split tunneling). Rimzo declares a narrow Android package-visibility filter instead of the broad QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission, so it cannot see your full installed-app list. Read on-device only; never transmitted (§2).
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_IDAccess the Advertising ID for ads and attribution in the free version.
com.android.vending.BILLINGProcess subscriptions via Google Play.

8. Data retention

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Consistent with our strict no-logs policy, we do not retain VPN activity logs or connection logs tied to your identity. Advertising, analytics, and crash data are retained according to the retention settings of the relevant provider (e.g. Firebase/AdMob). On-device preferences remain until you clear the app's data or uninstall Rimzo.

9. Security

Rimzo encrypts traffic in transit through the VPN tunnel — all data between your device and the VPN endpoint is encrypted — and uses standard measures to protect data handled by the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International data transfers

Rimzo operates globally. Your information (including your IP address processed for connection) may be handled in countries other than yours, including through our providers' infrastructure. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent.

Because Rimzo has no account system, we identify data primarily by device or advertising identifiers. To exercise a right, contact us (§14); we may ask for information needed to locate your data or verify your request.

12. Children

Rimzo is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by your local law (for example, under 13 in the U.S. or under 16 in parts of the EEA). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the app or on this page. Your continued use of Rimzo after an update means you accept the revised policy.
